Pre-party Preparations

Preparing for pre-party pretty - a doctor’s guide for your aesthetics in the lead up to the big day.

The biggest party of the year is less than four weeks away - and then there’s 2023 worth of celebrations and events to prepare for.

Whilst it’s quite common for us to start preparing just a couple of weeks before, Dr Sophia has put together a timeline of what aesthetics work needs to be done, and when, in preparation for your big party or celebration.

We’ve put this together for the festive season, but the same can be applied for your wedding, a big vacation, awards dinners, birthday parties and more.

Eight weeks before

If you’re seeking rejuvenation for loose and sagging skin, it is recommended that non-invasive procedures such as the Skin Rejuvenation with PDO threads is applied at least eight weeks in advance - for the true results to show.

Whilst it’s a little late for Christmas this year, this state-of-the-art cosmetic treatment works wonders with its PDO thread therapy. It helps to improve collagen production and improves facial glow.

Four weeks before

Botox

These miracle anti-wrinkle treatments for the forehead, eyes, chin and jawline need at least four weeks to take full effect, so book your appointment a month in advance.

Fillers

All type of fillers whether its Rhinoplasty or lip, chin and cheek augmentation – this should be done a month in advance to ensure that any swelling has reduced, and to allow time in case you’d require a second treatment to get your desired results.

Eyes & Tear troughs

If you’re planning to hide any signs of late Christmas nights spent at parties, plan to do it a month in advance with treatments like tear trough derma fillers. These give a fresh youthful appearance and diminish dark circles; however they take a month to take full effect so get yours booked in four weeks in advance.

Two weeks before

Facials

Clinical level facials should be performed at least two weeks prior to the event. Facials work by bringing deep impurities to the surface and there will likely be some blemishes immediately afterwards. Two weeks gives plenty of time for the skin to clear and for that beautiful glow to take effect.

We love Dr Sophia’s special WOW Facial. A six-stage tailored treatment that works through several layers of skin with full cleansing, peeling, intradermology, light therapy and more. The results are: wow!

Facial Peels

If you’re going all out and planning a peel, do this no later than two weeks prior to the big day, insists Dr Sophia. Peels work wonders for stripping the years off, however it takes a couple of weeks clear and allow acne to dry-up and disappear.

Our favourite is the Obagi Peel with its slow-acting TCA (trichloroacetic acid). This treatment removes dead skin cells, stimulates the production of new cells, and restores smoother, tighter, and younger-looking skin.

The week of the party
